You have probably saw a movie where the villains or even the protagonists have managed to start a car without even possessing its keys and thought that it would be very cool if you yourself could do so right? This is actually considered illegal and a type of criminal act because this is the most common method car thieves use in order to steal a car of their choice. However, there are certain instances that leads you with no choice but to manually start or "hot wire" your car, take note, YOUR car. For example, you lost your keys and you're in the middle of nowhere, or there is some kind of ignition malfunction. You should also bear in mind and never forget to always bring with you all the necessary documents and papers to prove your ownership upon your car so that you can be able to defend yourself if by instance, a police officer came and suspected you of stealing. I have listed below the procedures on how to hot wire your car. Here it is:

Step 1: Make sure that you really have a valid reason on hot wiring your car

Step 2: Make sure that your car is in neutral upon performing this because if not, any abrupt motion may hurt you or worst, kill you so always be careful.

Step 3: Look for the "on" wires located under the steering wheel. There will commonly be a couple of wires there but only a pair of them will have the charge. Don't depend on the color of the wires not unless you have knowledge about the color coding of your car's model. The pair of wires that you are looking for would just be right beneath the steering column.

Step 4: Peel off the insulated potion of the front of the wire and be careful NOT to touch it with your bare hands. Touching the peeled part with your bare hands may give your body a sudden electric shock that may lead to your death.

Step 5: Cautiously make both ends of the wires touch each other. You will notice a slight spark if you managed to do this properly.

Step 6: Repeat step 5 until your car's ignition starts. After that the car is now working, separate the wires and make sure to accelerate slowly to keep the ignition running.

Step 7: Place the wires far from your reach to avoid being electrocuted. If it is possible, insulate the bare ends again to make it safer from accidents.

The steps listed above are the general steps on how to hot wire a car however, there are certain car models that needs a different procedure. Also, always bring with you a toolkit; it comes in handy most of the time. Always keep in mind that hot wiring a car is not something that you do to impress a chick or just to show off your friends instead, it is a sort of life saving option when you have no other choice. There are some auto insurance companies that show how to do this just in case of certain incidents.
